I’ll end up with a couple of frames I like on each roll of film I shoot. Just the way it goes – my hit rate is lower when shooting digital at random. This is one of those keepers. Our last tour of the city and one of my favourite portraits.

On a bit of a wander with Dylan and Megs after dropping off some film. And picking up some film. On my last week in Korea I still had a fridge full of film to go through – some expensive, some junk, some I had never seen before. My underwater SLR gave a few cans a workout, but we sent the rest packing. When I waste it on stuff like this I don’t feel bad about that.

We never did find matching shirts…
We went bowling on my birthday. It was a Sunday, it was raining, and we like bowling. It left my fingers gnarled like I’d been catching for Roger Clemens without a mitt, but it was still a grand time in the Mighty O.
I don't remember who won.
I never will.

I have what seems like ten rolls of nothing but abstract fish bokehism.
That’s a little strange, sure. Until you consider how it could be worse; it could be rolls and rolls of abstract dog-meat bokehism.
Some would disagree, though. I’m sure of it.

If you’re new to Korea – or anywhere, for that matter – and the photography bug takes a bite out of your behind, don’t listen to anyone when they tell you to pay for lessons or join a workshop or buy this DVD or buy that new lens. The best way to learn how to shoot is to shoot, and the best place to teach yourself how to shoot is at any local market. Trust me on this. If you spend a month shooting a market and can’t come away with something to hang on your wall (or in your freezer) it’s time to look elsewhere for a hobby.
Not that this is wall worthy, mind you… but there was no better place for my rant today. Maybe my blog…

Samsung Mercedez Wannabe
shigzeo has added a photo to the pool:
If you know me, you'll know that I hate Samsung for many reasons. One is that they allow the sale of illegal DVD/CD's at Samsung-sponsored grocery shops. Another is that they rip off the design of any inspired maker. The final bit is that they are the closest company to ruling the world and considering their tax evasion, government bribes, and blatant copyright infringement, the are more than a little scary.
